BLOOD SAMPLING
In many Clinique Santé locations, we offer a blood sampling service for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes related to various medical conditions. The nurse in charge of blood tests can forward the results to your doctor.
Clinique Santé-affiliated pharmacies can collect blood for the following medical tests (non-exhaustive list).
- The complete blood count (CBC). Also called “hemogram” or “hematologic examination,” the CBC is a test performed to analyze the components of the blood. It can detect diseases of the blood (anemia, leukemia, hemophilia, etc.), some infections, as well as other pathologies, such as diabetes and certain types of cancer.
- A lipid profile is used to analyze the amounts of fat in your blood, including triglycerides and cholesterol. A lipid profile is often prescribed when a patient has diabetes, liver disease or is overweight.
- The thyroid gland workup is used to assess the health of the thyroid gland, including the TSH level (the hormone secreted by the pituitary gland, which is responsible for thyroid gland function). An elevated TSH could indicate hyperthyroidism, while a reduced level is a potential indicator of hypothyroidism.
If you have any questions about blood testing or the medical tests requiring blood collection, bring your questions to a location offering the blood sampling service.
