Diabetes

Diabetes is a chronic disease involving the insufficient production of insulin by the body or its inability to use it effectively. Produced by the pancreas, insulin is a hormone that converts glucose (sugar) in the food we eat into energy. Left untreated or poorly managed, diabetes can lead to serious consequences and various complications, such as kidney failure and heart disease. Clinique Santé-affiliated pharmacists are well aware of this risk. That’s why they offer the following services:

  • Glycemia measurement (blood glucose level)
  • Diabetes follow-up (consultations)

The Clinique Santé health journal features a diabetes health status log. Ask your pharmacist about it!

Hypertension

Commonly referred to as “high blood pressure,” hypertension is characterized by elevated arterial pressure in the blood vessels.

While hypertension does not often cause symptoms, it can, in some cases, lead to strokes. To adequately assess and carefully monitor your blood pressure, Clinique Santé offers the following services:

  • Blood pressure measurement
  • Blood pressure follow-up (consultations)
  • ABPM (blood pressure monitoring)

The Clinique Santé health journal features a blood pressure health status log. Ask your pharmacist about it!

Cholesterol

Produced by the liver, but mostly found in certain foods, cholesterol is essential to the human body, despite what many of us have heard. It becomes harmful only when its level in the blood is too high.

High cholesterol can lead to various health problems. That’s why you must closely monitor your cholesterol level, especially if it is elevated. Clinique Santé-affiliated pharmacies provide the services designed to help you monitor this condition:

  • Cholesterol level measurement
  • Cholesterol level follow-up

The Clinique Santé health journal features a cholesterol health status log. Ask your pharmacist about it!

Anticoagulant therapy

Anticoagulant therapy is a treatment used to thin the blood in order to prevent the formation of blood clots and potential consequences, such as embolisms and infarctions. One of the most common anticoagulant agents is CoumadinTM.

Clinique Santé-affiliated pharmacists provide two services to monitor a person’s anticoagulant therapy:

  • Blood sampling (blood tests)
  • Drug dosage adjustement

The Clinique Santé health journal features an anticoagulant therapy health status log. Ask your pharmacist about it!
